It's playoff time, and American Fork had no trouble coming through when it counted. They blew past the Mountain Ridge Sentinels 9-1 on Wednesday. Considering the Cavemen have won 18 contests by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
American Fork got a great performance from Talon Willardson as he pitched five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Willardson has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances.
At the plate, CJ Mascaro was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. That's the most doubles he has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Bode Gaggero, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.
American Fork was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mountain Ridge only posted a batting average of .148.
American Fork has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 15 of their last 16 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 26-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.4 runs over those games. As for Mountain Ridge, their loss dropped their record down to 20-12.
As of now, neither American Fork nor the Sentinels have any future games scheduled.
