Football Game Preview: Langston Hughes Panthers vs. McIntosh Chiefs + How To Watch

Two dominant backs in Qwantavius Wiggins and Brandan Ridley are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Langston Hughes Panthers will challenge the McIntosh Chiefs at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Langston Hughes knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 31 points or more in their past six matchups -- so hopefully McIntosh likes a good challenge.

Langston Hughes' defense heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They took their game with ease, bagging a 33-0 victory over Newnan. The win continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Cougars: they've now won four in a row.

Carsyn Baker had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 102 yards and one TD.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Langston Hughes was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 338 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 150 rushing yards in 12 consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, McIntosh played a tough contest on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They lost 35-14 to Northgate. The defeat continues a trend for the Chiefs in their meetings with the Vikings: they've now lost seven in a row.

Langston Hughes will have to contain Elijah Strader as he made an impact in McIntosh's last game. He rushed for 30 yards and one touchdown, and also threw for 81 yards and one TD.

Langston Hughes' victory bumped their record up to 6-0. As for McIntosh, their loss dropped their record down to 2-4.

Friday's game might be decided on the ground. Langston Hughes has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 255.2 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like McIntosh struggles in that department as they've been averaging 187 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.

Everything came up roses for Langston Hughes against McIntosh in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 49-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
