Softball Game Preview: Middletown Mustangs vs. Kelseyville Knights

The Middletown Mustangs will head out to take on the Kelseyville Knights at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Middletown is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak.

Cloverdale hit Middletown with a five-run second inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Mustangs took a 10-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Eagles.

Tallulah Madrid spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and seven unearned) runs on 11 hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Taylor Thompson made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Bev Fetters also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.

Meanwhile, after soaring to ten runs the game before, Kelseyville was a bit more limited in their game on Tuesday. They came up short against Lower Lake, falling 10-0. The contest marked the first time this year in which the Knights were not able to get on the board.

Kelseyville's defeat dropped their record down to 4-8. As for Middletown, their loss dropped their record down to 5-8.

Middletown might still be hurting after the 13-4 defeat they got from Kelseyville in their previous matchup two weeks ago. Can the Mustangs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
