Santa Clara is 9-1 against Bishop Diego since April of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Santa Clara Saints will welcome the Bishop Diego Cardinals at 4:00 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.
Santa Clara's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed last Monday. They were the clear victor by a 20-0 margin over Carpinteria. The Saints have beaten the Warriors the last five times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Warriors has come to flipping the script.

Kadyn Sanchez made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 14 over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two hits any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, scoring four runs while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in runs.
In other batting news, Sophia Romero was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing Four bases. while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Marcie Acosta, who went 1-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
Meanwhile, Bishop Diego put another one in the bag on Monday to keep their perfect season alive. They put the hurt on Valley Christian Academy with a sharp 16-0 victory. Considering the Cardinals have won three contests by more than 13 runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Like Santa Clara, Bishop Diego also got a great game from a two-way player: Madeline Ferries. On the mound, Ferries struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Meanwhile, Anna Fittipaldi tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. At bat, Ferries scored a run while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances, while Fittipaldi scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. That run marked the first that Ferries scored this season.
In other batting news, Bishop Diego let Tara Gregson and Penny Carroll run wild. Gregson went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one double, while Carroll scored three runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. That double was Gregson's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Keke Flores, who scored two runs while going 2-for-2.
Bishop Diego was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .320 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.
Bishop Diego's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-0. As for Santa Clara, their victory bumped their record up to 3-1.
Santa Clara took their win against Bishop Diego in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 14-2. Does Santa Clara have another victory up their sleeve, or will Bishop Diego turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
