Football Game Preview: Crawford Pirates vs. Kenedy Lions + How To Watch

The Crawford Pirates will take on the Kenedy Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Crawford is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They put the hurt on Johnson City with a sharp 29-7 victory. The win was nothing new for the Pirates as they're now sitting on seven straight.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Kenedy challenged Santa Maria on Friday. The Lions claimed a resounding 34-6 victory over the Cougars. Given the Lions' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 194th, while the Cougars are ranked 554th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Kenedy had a senior duo take command as David Salas rushed for 233 yards and a pair of TDs while picking up 8.6 yards per carry and Karsen Reyes rushed for 81 yards and one touchdown. Reyes showed off some serious burst, turning on the afterburners on one carry for 69 yards. Dylan Russell was another key player, rushing for 59 yards and one score.

Kenedy was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 440 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Kenedy didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Dehlay Salas and David Cantu. Cantu is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as he's now made five or more in each of the last four games he's played. Kenedy got some further help from Nick McPherson: he picked up a sack and made 11 total tackles.

Crawford's win bumped their record up to 10-1. As for Kenedy, their victory bumped their record up to 9-2.
