Softball Game Preview: Yough Cougars vs. Chartiers-Houston Buccaneers

Yough is on a five-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Chartiers-Houston is on an eight-game streak of away wins (also dating back to last season): one of those streaks is about to end. The Yough Cougars will host the Chartiers-Houston Buccaneers at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Yough's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. Everything went their way against Greens Farms Academy as Yough made off with a 19-0 victory.

J Vay made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Vay was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with six RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Yough got a massive performance out of Kylee Odelli, who scored three runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Those three runs gave Odelli a new career-high. Payton Jenkins was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Yough always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .657. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Greens Farms Academy only posted an OBP of .182.

Meanwhile, Chartiers-Houston got the win against Bishop Canevin on Wednesday by a conclusive 15-0.

Chartiers-Houston's win bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Yough, their victory bumped their record up to an identical 2-0.
