Recap: Cardinal Newman Cardinals vs. Hillcrest Rams
The third road matchup was the charm for the Cardinal Newman Cardinals, as they earned their first road win of the season. They enjoyed a cozy 61-43 win over Hillcrest on Thursday.
Josiah Peeples continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 22 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Evan Carter, who scored eight points along with nine rebounds.
Cardinal Newman's win bumped their record up to 6-8. As for Hillcrest, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season.
Cardinal Newman won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Greer Middle College at 5:30 p.m. on December 29th. Greer Middle College knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past nine matches -- so hopefully Cardinal Newman likes a good challenge. Hillcrest won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Gray Collegiate Academy at 2:10 p.m. on December 29th. Gray Collegiate Academy presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Hillcrest in South Carolina (Gray Collegiate Academy is ranked fourth, while Hillcrest is ranked 118th).
