Baseball Recap: Breese Central Comes Up Short

The Breese Central Cougars didn't have quite enough to beat the Gillespie Miners on Wednesday and fell 6-5. The Cougars have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Breese Central's loss dropped their record down to 18-6. As for Gillespie, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season.

Breese Central and Gillespie should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings. The Cougars (ranked 43rd) will meet Columbia (ranked 142nd) at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Gillespie will challenge Staunton at 4:30 p.m. on Monday with a big rank advantage (140 vs. 331).
