Softball Recap: Carlyle Wins Going Away Against Odin/Patoka/Sandoval

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Carlyle). Everything went their way against the Odin/Patoka/Sandoval Eagles on Friday as Carlyle made off with a 23-1 win. The Indians/Lady Indians have beaten the Eagles the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Eagles has come to flipping the script.

Avery Eversgerd made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and only one walk). Eversgerd was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 3-for-5. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Carlyle got a massive performance out of Kyra Beckemeyer, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs. Those six RBI gave Beckemeyer a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Raelyn Harris, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 4-for-4.

Carlyle always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .674. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive matches.

Carlyle's victory bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Odin/Patoka/Sandoval, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Carlyle will face off against Greenville at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Greenville's pitching crew has only allowed 0.8 runs per game this season, so Carlyle's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Odin/Patoka/Sandoval, they will challenge Cisne at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. This will be Odin/Patoka/Sandoval's first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
