Baseball Recap: Nansemond River Comes Up Short

Nansemond River came into their game on Tuesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against the Great Bridge Wildcats, falling 7-1. The Warriors haven't had much luck with the Wildcats recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Nansemond River saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Buddy Baker, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases.

The loss was their first at home , dropping their record down to 3-6. As for Great Bridge, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season.

Meanwhile, Great Bridge is set to challenge their familiar foe Western Branch at 5:45 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Wildcats 2.3, the Bruins 3.4) so any runs scored will be well earned.
