Basketball Recap: Akins Eagles vs. Bowie Bulldogs
The Akins Eagles's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their eighth straight loss. They suffered a tough 53-30 defeat at the hands of Bowie. While losing is never fun, Akins can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1110th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 249th).
When it comes to explaining why Akins lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jade Ruvalcaba. Despite the final result, she scored 11 points.
Akins has been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 11 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-17 record this season. As for Bowie, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 21-7.
Akins will head out on the road to face off against the Jaguars at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Bowie, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Chaparrals at 7:00 p.m. Westlake is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
