Basketball Game Preview: Community Christian Warriors vs. Fellowship Academy Mustangs

The Community Christian Warriors will hit the road for the first time this season to square off against the Fellowship Academy Mustangs at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Community Christian played against Victory Christian Academy and lost via forfeit.

Community Christian is hoping to do what Heritage Christian Athletics couldn't on Friday: put an end to Fellowship Academy's winning streak, which now stands at six games. Fellowship Academy put the hurt on Heritage Christian Athletics with a sharp 57-33 win. The Mustangs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matches by 24 points or more this season.

Fellowship Academy's win came from a few key players Community Christian will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Rhyia Ray, who posted 23 points in addition to eight boards and five steals. She has been hot, having posted three or more steals the last seven times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Libby Hamblin, who put up eight points along with 17 boards and five steals.

Fellowship Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 37 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 13 consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Community Christian's defeat was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Fellowship Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 9-1.

Community Christian came up short against Fellowship Academy in their previous meeting back in February of 2022, falling 36-28. Can Community Christian avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
