Baseball Recap: Thompson Valley Takes a Loss

Thompson Valley suffered their closest loss since May 25, 2024 on Monday. They fell just short of the Roosevelt Roughriders by a score of 6-4. The Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Roughriders apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Evan Raabe spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered six earned runs on six hits and racked up seven Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Sam Engelland made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Beau Heaton, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Thompson Valley has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-10 record this season. As for Roosevelt, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 12-3.

Coming up, Thompson Valley will challenge Niwot at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Roosevelt, they will venture away from home to face off against Fossil Ridge at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Roughriders will need to watch out since the SaberCats have now posted at least ten runs in their last four contests.
