Softball Recap: Palmview Beats Roma for Their Third Straight Victory

Palmview entered their tilt with Roma on Friday with two consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with three. Everything went their way against the Roma Gladiators as they made off with an 8-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Lobos, who have now won four matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

Abigail Cantu spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on six hits. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-low in earned runs (zero).

On the hitting side, Alynna Gonzalez was a standout: she scored a run while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. What's more, she posted three RBI, the most she's had since back in March of 2024. Gabriela Garza was another key player, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while going 3-for-3.

Palmview always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .559. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Palmview's record is now 7-5. As for Roma, they dropped their record down to 1-12 with the loss, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Coming up, Palmview will venture away from home to face off against Martin at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Palmview is facing Martin at the right time seeing as Martin is stuck on an 18-game losing streak. As for Roma, they will host Rio Grande City at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Rio Grande City will roll in looking for their eighth straight victory, something Roma surely won't give up without a fight.
