Basketball Recap: Fort Morgan Comes Up Short

Fort Morgan was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were outmatched by the Prospect Ridge Academy Miners and fell 78-41. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 267th, while the Miners are ranked 74th).

Despite the loss, Fort Morgan still got an impressive performance from Carlo Bassalle, who posted nine points and eight rebounds. Hayden Marsh also deserves some recognition as he grabbed his first steal of the season.

Even though they lost, Fort Morgan smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in five consecutive matchups.

Prospect Ridge Academy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Travis Agbosse out in front who went 5 of 6 on his way to 18 points in addition to five boards and four steals. Agbosse has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ezekiel Bote, who went 6 for 12 en route to 16 points along with eight rebounds and five steals.

Fort Morgan's loss dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Prospect Ridge Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season.

Fort Morgan didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 43-39 defeat against Eaton on the 16th. Prospect Ridge Academy has also already played their next matchup, an 83-82 loss against Fort Lupton on the 14th.
