Football Recap: Mountain View Bruins vs. Payson Lions
Mountain View took care of business in their home opener on Friday. They managed a 40-36 win over the Payson Lions. The Bruins have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Lions, too.
Mountain View's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tate Johnson, who threw for 257 yards and four TDs. Hyrum Stafford was in the mix as well, providing the Bruins with three touchdowns.

Mountain View was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 205 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in September of 2024.
Despite the loss, Payson still got an impressive performance from Trevyn Wall, who threw for 358 yards and three TDs while picking up 11.9 yards per attempt, and also punched in a pair of scores on the ground. Wall is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in each of the last five games he's played dating back to last season. Valentin Sanchez was Wall's top target, picking up 62 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns.
Coming up, Mountain View will head out on the road to challenge Tooele at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Payson, they will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on Juab at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
