Baseball Game Preview: Holly Hill Academy Raiders vs. Calhoun Academy Cavaliers

Holly Hill Academy is 1-6 against Calhoun Academy since March of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Raiders are taking a road trip to challenge the Cavaliers at 7:00 p.m.

Monday just wasn't the day for Holly Hill Academy's offense. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 10-0 to St. John's Christian Academy, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The Raiders' defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it three in a row.

Meanwhile, Calhoun Academy never let their opponents score on Thursday. Everything went their way against King's Academy as they made off with a 6-0 win. Considering the Cavaliers have won ten games by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Not much got past Chase Strickland, who gave up just three hits and racked up 15 Ks to keep King's Academy off the board. Strickland has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Colt Layton and Crews Felder did most of the damage at the plate: Layton went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Felder got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. Layton is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.

Holly Hill Academy's loss dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Calhoun Academy, their record is now 18-8.
