Basketball Recap: Mount Paran Christian Takes a Loss

Mount Paran Christian fought the good fight in their overtime match against St. Francis on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 72-64 hit to the loss column at the hands of the St. Francis Knights. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Tuesday (61), the Eagles still had to take the loss.

Loss or not, Mount Paran Christian got some senior leadership from Christopher Park and Cameron Hewling. Park went 7 of 15 on his way to 22 points in addition to six boards and three steals, while Hewling went 7 for 10 en route to 17 points. That's the most points Park has posted since back in November of 2024. Andric Parent also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

It was another big night for Greg Howard, who went 12 for 24 on his way to 38 points along with six rebounds and three steals for St. Francis. Reynolds Escher was another key player, putting up 14 points in addition to seven boards and five assists.

Mount Paran Christian has traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-10 record this season. As for St. Francis, they pushed their record up to 10-8 with the win, which was their third straight at home.

Mount Paran Christian has already played their next game, a 53-51 defeat against South Cobb on the 20th. St. Francis has also already played their next matchup (against Mount Pisgah Christian), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
