Baseball Recap: Independence Comes Up Short

Independence was the 8-5 winner over Maquoketa when they last played one another back in July of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Mustangs fell just short of the Cardinals by a score of 5-4 on Tuesday.

Independence's defeat dropped their record down to 10-10. As for Maquoketa, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-15-1.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Cardinals beat Independence by a score of 4-3 later that day.
