Soccer Game Preview: River Ridge vs. Sunlake

The River Ridge Royal Knights will take on the Sunlake Seahawks at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Neither team made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

River Ridge is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Steinbrenner just ended the team's five-game winning streak on Tuesday. They came up short against the Warriors, falling 3-0. Considering the last time the Royal Knights couldn't score was back in December of 2024, the team can't take the result too hard.

Meanwhile, Sunlake put another one in the bag back in December of 2024 to keep their undefeated season alive. They never let Wesley Chapel onto the board and left with a 1-0 victory. The Seahawks' defense has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a goal in their last five games.

Sunlake's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-0-1. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those four contests. As for River Ridge, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-6-1.

River Ridge might still be hurting after the 5-1 loss they got from Sunlake in their previous matchup back in January of 2024. Can River Ridge avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
