Basketball Recap: West Branch Comes Up Short

West Branch has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They fell 84-77 to the Bishop McCort Crushers on Wednesday. The Warriors were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Crushers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2019.

When it comes to explaining why West Branch lost, don't look at Owen Koleno. Despite the final result, he posted 38 points in addition to eight boards and three steals. Koleno's evening made it 11 games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Lukas Colton, who had 16 points along with six rebounds and four steals.

Even though they lost, West Branch was working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in four consecutive contests.

West Branch's defeat dropped their record down to 20-6. As for Bishop McCort, they now have a winning record of 13-12.

As of now, neither West Branch nor Bishop McCort have any future games scheduled.
