Baseball Game Preview: Hornbeck Hornets vs. Hackberry Mustangs

The Hornbeck Hornets will venture away from home to challenge the Hackberry Mustangs at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.

Hornbeck can't be to happy about their upcoming road matchup considering what happened when they opened their season on the away from home last Monday. They fell 5-2 to Florien. The Hornets have struggled against the Blackcats recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Hornbeck's loss dropped their record down to 0-1.

As for Hackberry, they've got a clean slate this season. Last year, they finished on the right side of .500 (14-12), and they're hoping to kick off an even more successful campaign this year.

Hornbeck took their win against Hackberry in their previous matchup back in February of 2024 by a conclusive 14-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for Hornbeck since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
