Basketball Recap: Wautoma Takes a Loss

Wautoma was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 16th straight defeat dating back to last season. They were outmatched by the Westfield Area Pioneers and fell 77-15. While losing is never fun, the Hornets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin basketball rankings (they are ranked 451st, while the Pioneers are ranked 63rd).

Wautoma's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Maddy Meyer, who posted eight points.

Wautoma's defeat dropped their record down to 0-15. As for Westfield Area, the win (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 16-2.

Wautoma didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 57-14 loss against Onalaska on the 1st. Westfield Area has also already played their next matchup (against Wisconsin Dells), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
