Soccer Game Preview: Newport Harbor vs. Marina

The Newport Harbor Sailors will square off against the Marina Vikings at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Neither team made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Newport Harbor fell victim to Edison and their airtight defense on Wednesday. They came up short against the Chargers, falling 3-0. While losing is never fun, the Sailors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 697th, while the Chargers are ranked 160th).

Meanwhile, Marina was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their tenth straight loss. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Fountain Valley.

Newport Harbor has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season. As for Marina, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-17-2.

Newport Harbor beat Marina by a goal in their previous meeting on January 8th, winning 2-1. Does Newport Harbor have another victory up their sleeve, or will Marina turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
