Softball Recap: Highland Takes a Loss

Highland extended their losing streak to 13 on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 2-21 in the process. They came up short against the Grants Pirates, falling 15-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Pirates this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 16-0 on April 8th.

As for Grants, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 14-9 record this season. Considering they have won seven contests by more than eight runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

For Grants' part, Kymber Cash was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with four stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Those three runs gave Cash a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Samantha Carlson, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Highland will face off against rival Valencia at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Grants is set to challenge their familiar foe Belen at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
