Maine High School Football Rankings

Who's up and who's down

The power rankings have experienced a modest tune-up after last week's playoff battles. We'll tackle that and more in this week's report.

No Stoppin 'Em

Given its edge in the MaxPreps state rankings, a win looked likely for Marshwood in its matchup against Gorham. The team got that and then some. Marshwood picked up a decisive 'W' against Gorham, finishing up at 61 - 6. That 55-point margin marks the most Marshwood has won by all season. The combined 67 points was the most of any game featuring a power-ranked team.

This Week's Big Showdown

One of the hottest tickets last week involved the clash between Lisbon/St. Dominic (7th in the power rankings) and Oak Hill (21st). Victory was within reach, but Lisbon/St. Dominic ultimately lost 6 - 0 to Oak Hill. The fight Lisbon/St. Dominic demonstrated in its 30 - 14 win the game before seemed replaced by lethargy in this one.

Next Week's Big Game

If you are itching to watch a first-rate contest, no game is supposed to fit the bill better than the one between Brunswick (14th in the power rankings) and Cony (8th). Both teams have their heads held high after dominating their previous opponents. Only one team will win this week, so we'll find out on Friday which team fails to repeat its success.
