Softball Game Recap: Garinger Wildcats vs. Providence Panthers

Garinger had lost seven straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 3-13 to make it eight. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 15-0 to the Providence Panthers, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Panthers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-0 on Tuesday.

As for Providence, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 17-4. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won 13 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

For Providence's part, Sophie Strugar and Pheonix Scott did most of the damage at the plate: Strugar went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base, while Scott went a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. That's the most runs Strugar has posted since back in March. Katherine Joiner also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Garinger will take on Rocky River at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Providence, they will face off against Hough at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Panthers 4.1, the Huskies 1.5) so any runs scored will be well earned.
