Monterey is 9-0-1 against Tascosa since February of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Plainsmen will take on the Rebels at 7:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Monterey will roll into the match after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one goal on Friday, then bounced right back against Lubbock on Tuesday. The Plainsmen never let the Westerners get on the board and left with a 5-0 win. The victory continues a trend for Monterey in their matchups with Lubbock: they've now won eight in a row.

Monterey hit Lubbock with a four-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Jada Martinez (2), Marianne McPhail-Bain, Nashai Cansino, and Mae Arrington.

Meanwhile, Tascosa made easy work of Lubbock on Saturday and carried off a 7-1 win. The final result isn't all that surprising considering Tascosa's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 198th, while Lubbock are ranked 558th).

Monterey's victory bumped their record up to 11-7-1. As for Tascosa, their win bumped their record up to 11-4-2.

Monterey came out on top in a nail-biter against Tascosa when the teams last played back in January, sneaking past 1-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Plainsmen since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
