Basketball Game Preview: Miller Buccaneers vs. Mercedes Tigers

The Miller Buccaneers are packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game of the season: they will take on the Mercedes Tigers on Tuesday. Mercedes took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Miller, who comes in off a win.

Miller is headed out to face Mercedes after opening their season at home and giving their fans just what they were looking for. Everything went the Buccaneers' way against Port Isabel on Saturday as they made off with a 66-45 win. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as the Buccaneers just coasted through the last quarter.

Miller's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Charles Perry, who almost dropped a double-double with 15 points and nine steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Izaiah Gidrey, who almost dropped a double-double with 21 points and nine rebounds.

Miller smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in eight consecutive games dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, Mercedes was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Friday as they fell 57-53 to Macedonian Christian. The Tigers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Miller didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Mercedes in their previous matchup back in November of 2023, but they still walked away with a 55-50 victory.
