Volleyball Recap: Evansville Mater Dei Falls Despite Big Games from Caroline Schultheis and Emily Kiesel

If Evansville Mater Dei was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Forest Park last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Wildcats came up short against the Evansville North Huskies on Tuesday, falling 3-0. The Wildcats were not able to make up for their loss to the Huskies from their previous meeting back in September of 2024.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-18, 25-16, 25-15.

Evansville Mater Dei's loss came despite strong showings from Emily Kiesel and Caroline Schultheis. Kiesel had 11 digs and three assists, while Schultheis had seven digs and two aces. Katelyn Wathen also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assists of the season.

Evansville North was led to victory by Tessa Wilke and Mia Porter. Wilke had 19 assists and four digs, while Porter had eight digs. That's the most assists Wilke has posted over her last six games.

Evansville Mater Dei's defeat dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Evansville North, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 8-0.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Evansville Mater Dei will host Boonville at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Wildcats are facing the Pioneers at the right time seeing as the Pioneers are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Evansville North, they will be playing at home against Jasper at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
