Basketball Game Preview: Meyersdale Red Raiders vs. North Star Cougars

Meyersdale hasn't had much luck against North Star recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Meyersdale Red Raiders will square off against the North Star Cougars at 7:15 p.m.

Meyersdale is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Berlin Brothersvalley on Wednesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Meyersdale was outmatched by Berlin Brothersvalley and fell 60-28. Having soared to a lofty 56 points in the game before, the Red Raiders couldn't push the score so high this time.

Meanwhile, North Star won against Glendale on Monday with 57 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Wednesday. North Star breezed by Blacklick Valley to the tune of 57-22. The Cougars have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight matchups by 20 points or more this season.

North Star has also been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.8 points per game. As for Meyersdale, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-13.

Meyersdale was taken down by North Star 84-37 in their previous meeting on January 8th. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of North Star's Ethan Smith, who almost dropped a triple-double on 24 points, nine rebounds, and nine steals.
