Football Game Preview: LaGrange Grangers vs. Troup County Tigers + Official Tickets

Two dominant signal callers in Dylan Barber and Garrison Edwards are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The LaGrange Grangers will host the Troup County Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with LaGrange sitting on five straight victories and Troup County on seven.

On Friday, LaGrange beat Mary Persons 28-21.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Troup County took on Trinity Christian on Friday. The Tigers took down the Lions 38-21. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 43rd, while the Lions are ranked 159th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

LaGrange better keep an eye on Trent Hodo. He was instrumental in Troup County's win, rushing for 127 yards and one score on only 13 carries. The bulk of those rushing yards came from one huge play: a run that gained an incredible 81 yards. Parker Townsend was another key player, picking up 90 receiving yards and one TD.

Troup County was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 266 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 156 rushing yards in 14 consecutive games dating back to last season.

Troup County's win bumped their record up to 7-0. As for LaGrange, their victory bumped their record up to 7-1.

Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. LaGrange has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 158 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Troup County struggles in that department as they've been averaging 261.6 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.

Everything came up roses for LaGrange against Troup County in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 49-21 win. In that game, the Grangers amassed a halftime lead of 28-7, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
