Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Greg Tate and Jharvey Deramus Lead Carver Montgomery to Victory

Carver Montgomery had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 71-69 win over the Percy Julian Phoenix on Friday. The victory almost wasn't to be: the Wolverines were down 39-24 in the second quarter.

Leading Carver Montgomery to victory were Jharvey Deramus and Greg Tate. Deramus posted 13 points and five assists, while Tate earned 14 points along with six rebounds and four blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Amarian Griffin, who put up nine points in addition to eight boards and five assists.

They weren't the only one working in the assists department: Carver Montgomery was working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in February.

Carver Montgomery's win bumped their record up to 12-4. As for Percy Julian, their loss dropped their record down to 3-9.

Carver Montgomery will welcome Park Crossing at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Carver Montgomery is facing Park Crossing at the right time seeing as Park Crossing is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Percy Julian, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 60-50 defeat against Auburn on the 14th.
