Basketball Recap: ASU Prep Comes Up Short

ASU Prep was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were outmatched by the Heritage Academy Heroes and fell 63-29. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Sun Devils this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 40-28 back in November.

Heritage Academy got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jayla Santa Cruz out in front who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 21 rebounds. The game was Santa Cruz's third in a row with at least ten points. Aiyana Sims was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on 18 points and nine rebounds.

ASU Prep's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Heritage Academy, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 5-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. ASU Prep will host Ridgeline Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Heritage Academy will take on Glenview College Prep in a holiday battle at at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
