Basketball Recap: Taya Taukiuvea and Kennedy Davis Secure Win for Centura

There's no place like home for Centura, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They took down the Cozad Haymakers 47-28 on Saturday. That looming 47-28 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Centurions yet this season.

Leading Centura to victory were Kennedy Davis and Taya Taukiuvea. Davis dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 blocks, while Taukiuvea posted nine points in addition to five assists and five steals. That's the most blocks Davis has posted since back in February of 2024. Hope Mcdonald was another key player, putting up nine points and six rebounds.

Centura's win bumped their record up to 5-9. As for Cozad, they have also traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-12 record this season.

Centura will venture away from home to face off against Gibbon at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Cozad, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 50-30 loss against Amherst on the 21st.
