Baseball Recap: Mid Valley Beats Lakeland for Their Fourth Straight Win

Mid Valley entered their tilt with Lakeland on Saturday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They put the hurt on the Chiefs with a sharp 12-2 victory. The result was nothing new for the Spartans, who have now won 11 games by six runs or more so far this season.

Mid Valley got a massive performance out of Lorenzo Hernandez, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI Hernandez has posted since back in March. Joey Romanosky was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Mid Valley hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least three batters in four consecutive matchups.

Mid Valley pushed their record up to 14-3 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.2 runs over those games. As for Lakeland, they have been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 12 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season.

Mid Valley will face off against Holy Cross at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Lakeland, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, an 8-2 loss against Riverside on the 5th.
