Basketball Recap: Mankato East Picks Up 12th Straight Win at Home

Mankato East came tearing into Saturday's contest with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 27.8 points) and they left with even more momentum. They snuck past the Alexandria Cardinals with an 81-76 win. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Cougars also won the last time the pair played back in March.

Chase Thompson and Talan Witt certainly did their best on Saturday to avoid the loss. Thompson went 9 for 19 on his way to 30 points, while Witt went 7 of 11 on his way to 20 points. The matchup was Thompson's fourth in a row with at least ten points.

Mankato East pushed their record up to 6-1 with the victory, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season. As for Alexandria, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 4-3.

Mankato East (ranked 15th) will meet Owatonna (ranked 129th) at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Similarly, Alexandria will take on Rocori at 7:15 p.m. on Friday up 175 places (55 vs. 230).
