Preview: South Wake Lions vs. North Wake S Saints
South Wake is 1-8 against North Wake S since September of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The South Wake Lions are on the road again and play against the North Wake S Saints at 7:00 p.m. on November 10th. South Wake will be hoping to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each game than the last.
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only South Wake walked away with it. They strolled past Hickory H with points to spare on Saturday, taking the game 41-27.
Meanwhile, North Wake S put the finishing touches on their seventh blowout victory of the season on Friday. They didn't even let Wake Prep Academy onto the board and left with a 50-0 win. The high flying offensive effort was a huge turnaround for North Wake S's zero-point performance the match before.
North Wake S relied on the efforts of Jordan Reid, who rushed for 156 yards and a touchdown on only 15 carries, and Sema'J Davis, who gained 146 total yards and three touchdowns. Reid hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for seven straight games.
North Wake S's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB 9.5 times. The heavy lifting was done by Tre Mcintyre and Avery Hall who racked up 4.5 sacks between them.
Their wins bumped South Wake to 4-6 and North Wake S to 9-2.
South Wake was taken down by North Wake S 40-6 when the teams last played back in October. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of North Wake S's Reid, who rushed for 220 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 13.8 yards per carry. Now that South Wake knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
