Basketball Recap: Lugoff-Elgin Starts Season with Defeat on the Road

Lugoff-Elgin kicked off their season on the road on Monday and hit a couple of potholes. They took a blow against the Dutch Fork Silver Foxes, falling 60-33. The loss continues a trend for the Demons in their meetings with the Silver Foxes: they've now lost seven in a row.

Lugoff-Elgin lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Justin Harris, who posted four points and three steals. Malik Woods was another key player, putting up ten points.

Justus Bell was nothing short of spectacular for Dutch Fork: he went 13-for-17 en route to 32 points and eight rebounds. The contest was Bell's third in a row with at least 17 points. Another player making a difference was Caleb Garner, who had ten points.

Lugoff-Elgin wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 59-53 win against River Bluff on the 25th. As for Dutch Fork, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 76-54 victory against J.L. Mann on the 25th.
