Football Recap: Grand Island Central Catholic Piles Up the Points Against St. Paul

Grand Island Central Catholic waltzed into their contest on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They claimed a resounding 49-15 victory over the St. Paul Wildcats. This was payback for the Crusaders, who suffered a 48-33 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Grand Island Central Catholic to victory, but perhaps none more so than Connor Haney, who picked up 162 receiving yards and three scores. That's the most receiving touchdowns Haney has posted since back in October of 2024. Grayson Sack was another key signal caller, throwing for 143 yards and a pair of TDs on only six passes.

Grand Island Central Catholic's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB 3.5 times. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Owen Price, Graham Stava, and Brandon Cloud, who each picked up one sack apiece. Price was another major factor on D, picking up a sack, forcing one fumble, and making four total tackles (2.0 for loss).

Grand Island Central Catholic's record now sits at 8-1. As for St. Paul, they dropped their record down to 2-7 with the loss, which was their fifth straight on the road.

Looking ahead, Grand Island Central Catholic will welcome West Point-Beemer at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Crusaders 6.3, the Cadets 14.6) so any points scored will be well earned. St. Paul does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
