Baseball Recap: Troup Comes Up Short

If Troup was feeling good fresh off their 8-2 takedown of Arp last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Troup Tigers fell just short of the Lovelady Lions by a score of 3-1 on Friday.

Troup's loss dropped their record down to 7-4. As for Lovelady, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season.

Troup will look to defend their home field on Friday against New Summerfield at 5:00 p.m. New Summerfield has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 17.5 runs per game on average), something Troup will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Lovelady, they will take on Shelbyville in a tournament on Saturday. Lovelady's pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so Shelbyville's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
