Having struggled with four defeats in a row, Hamden turned things around against Branford on Monday. They walked away with a 12-8 victory over the Hornets. Considering the Dragons' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Felicity Potkay spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and three unearned) runs on nine hits.

On the hitting side, Hamden got a massive performance out of Aunne Brookshire, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Audri Bellucci, who went a perfect 5-for-5 with two runs and two RBI.

Meanwhile, Cheshire's rock-solid pitcher showed up for the team's third consecutive shutout on Thursday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Oxford a 10-0 shutout. Considering the Rams have won 11 contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

The result came thanks to Jenica Matos's shutout, as she gave up just a hit and racked up 20 Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two hits any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, Molly Fleming was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. Lyla Blair was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one home run.

Hamden's record is now 3-7. As for Cheshire, their record now sits at 11-1.

Hamden might still be hurting after the 18-1 loss they got from Cheshire in their previous matchup back in April. Can the Dragons avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
