Baseball Recap: Lovelady Triumphs

It was a proper cat-fight when Lovelady took on Leon on Thursday. The Lions walked away with a 6-1 win over the Cougars. The victory continues a trend for the Lions in their matchups with the Cougars: they've now won four in a row.

Lance Pierce spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up seven Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Brady McCullough was excellent, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one run. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Tyler Gilchrist, who went 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

Lovelady's win bumped their record up to 15-10-1. As for Leon, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-11.

Coming up, Lovelady will face off against Normangee at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Leon does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
