Softball Recap: Rosary Academy Beats Woodbridge for Their Eighth Straight Victory

Rosary Academy came tearing into Monday's contest with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.4 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They never let the Woodbridge Warriors get on the board and left with a 3-0 win. That's more bragging rights for the Royals, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

The result came thanks to Ava Phillips's shutout, as she gave up just four hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jenna Caldera, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Domonique McCoy, who went 3-for-4 with one RBI.

Rosary Academy hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Woodbridge struck out nine times.

Rosary Academy's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-2-1. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Woodbridge, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-8-1.
