Basketball Recap: Ashland Takes a Loss

Ashland lost against Kiowa County back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Ashland Blue Jays were dealt a 52-18 defeat at the hands of the Kiowa County Mavericks. While losing is never fun, the Blue Jays can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 258th, while the Mavericks are ranked 76th).

Ashland's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 4-6. As for Kiowa County, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-2.

Ashland will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on South Gray on February 4th. One thing working in South Gray's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three matchups. Kiowa County also won't see the court for a while: their next game is against South Central at 7:00 p.m. on February 4th.
