Softball Recap: Atrisco Heritage Academy Picks Up Second Consecutive Win

Atrisco Heritage Academy won against Bloomfield on Saturday with seven runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Saturday. Atrisco Heritage Academy beat the Portales Rams by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 7-6. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Jaguars.

Jazelle Romero was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Romero was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one triple and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since March 4th.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Savannah Lujan, who scored a run while going 1-for-2. Another player making a difference was Janessa Lane, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Atrisco Heritage Academy's win bumped their record up to 10-4. As for Portales, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-4 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight will be fought as Atrisco Heritage Academy Jaguars take on Los Lunas Tigers at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Atrisco Heritage Academy's pitchers better be ready for this one: Los Lunas has averaged an impressive 7.3 runs per game this season. As for Portales, they are taking a road trip to square off against Robertson at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Robertson has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.7 runs per game on average), something Portales will no doubt try to take advantage of.
