Baseball Game Preview: Quapaw Wildcats vs. Wyandotte Bears

The Quapaw Wildcats will square off against the Wyandotte Bears on Thursday. Wyandotte took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Quapaw, who comes in off a win.

Quapaw made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Nowata, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Wildcats were the clear victors by a 13-1 margin over the Ironmen on Tuesday. Considering the Wildcats' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Ayden Bruton made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Bruton was even better at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing five bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Those five stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Jace Gregory was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances. He is becoming a predictor of Quapaw's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 7-2 (and 2-10 when he doesn't). Gavin Koronis was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2.

Meanwhile, Wyandotte fell victim to Tulsa NOAH HomeSchool and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They came up short against the Jaguars, falling 6-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Bears have suffered since April 9, 2024.

Quapaw's win bumped their record up to 9-12. As for Wyandotte, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 16-8.
