Softball Recap: Lyons Takes a Loss

Lyons extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping their season record down to 10-16 in the process. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-0 heartbreaker at the hands of the York Dukes. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Lions have suffered since May 5th.

Lyons saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Maddie McLane, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

As for York, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-10 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games.

On York's side, not much got past Sophia Lanciloti, who gave up just four hits to keep Lyons off the board.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Kayla Winters, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted over her last ten matchups. The team also got some help courtesy of Lillianah Burda, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lyons will square off against Hinsdale South at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for York, they will take on IC Catholic Prep at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
