Basketball Recap: Progreso Comes Up Short

Progreso lost against Rio Hondo back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Progreso Red Ants were outmatched by the Rio Hondo Bobcats and fell 57-28. The Red Ants have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

When it comes to explaining why Progreso lost, don't look at Julio Resendez. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 boards. Resendez is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down ten or more in the last ten games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Mathew Zuniga, who posted four points.

Progreso's loss dropped their record down to 12-15. As for Rio Hondo, their win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-10.

Progreso will challenge Santa Rosa at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Rio Hondo, they will face off against Lyford at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Lyford will roll in looking for their ninth straight victory, something Rio Hondo surely won't give up without a fight.
