South Sequoia recap October 29, 2013

Shafter scaled the state rankings by moving to 565 from 620 this week, the biggest jump in South Sequoia. The Generals were able to move up by defeating Arvin 42-0.

Adding to the longest winning streak in the league this week, Bakersfield Christian beat South 38-7. The victory was the sixth in a row for the Eagles.

Shafter's dynamic duo of Kyle Millwee and Richard Nourse proved to be unstoppable against the Bears, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Millwee threw for 383 yards and 6 touchdowns and Nourse had 263 yards receiving. Nick Alexander helped Shafter's passing attack out by catching 4 balls for 53 yards.

Nourse had a great week catching the football as Ricky Ishida's team defeated Arvin. He caught 7 passes for 263 yards.

Bakersfield Christian's offense cannot be tamed this season and the Eagles feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Brandon Jones has thrown for 2,266 yards and 32 touchdowns this season, while Josh Jackson has 32 catches for 784 yards.

Matt Smith of the Bakersfield Christian is only 87 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season. In 123 carries Smith has put up 913 yards this year.

One of the league's premier quarterbacks will go head-to-head with its top pass rusher when Jerald Pierucci's team and the Wildcats face off next week.

A big matchup in South Sequoia this week will be when Wasco takes on Edgar Mares' team. The Tigers are currently in first, while the Bears are in fifth.

The Generals took down Arvin 42-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Millwee ran for 98 yards during the win.
